Buffalo Plaid, It’s Not A Fad

It is the perfect pattern for the holiday season. Buffalo plaid has been around since 1850 proving that it’s an iconic pattern is not a fad and it’s here to stay!

What Is Buffalo Plaid?
The holiday season is upon us, and the buffalo plaid comes out in full force. Buffalo plaid is the red and black check pattern that explodes in popularity around the Christmas season. Some may know it as the official symbol of lumberjacks!
A lot of people ask what is the difference between buffalo plaid, and well, plaid? The answer is interesting and in-depth information can be found in this article, To break it down, essentially flannel is a kind of woven fabric and plaid is a pattern.
I keep finding myself buying this pattern over and over again whether it’s pillows, this adorable weekender bag, Christmas decorations or clothes. Buffalo plaid just screams, “I’m here for the Holiday Season.” I’ve compiled a list at some of my favorite finds from across the web when it comes to this adorable red and black check pattern.
Kid’s Christmas Clothes
This adorable buffalo plaid toddler dress is how my obsession with Buffalo plaid began. I needed a last minute dress to wear to see Santa, and thanks to Amazon Prime’s next day delivery, we got to wear this adorable buffalo plaid tunic, which fits true to size and holds up great in the wash. This buffalo plaid dress pairs perfectly with these adorable red shoes and black leggings from Target. If you haven’t tried the Cat and Jack.
Baby Buffalo Plaid Outfits
Since big sister was rocking the buffalo plaid, I of course needed to make sure that my son also was decked out in it as well. I found the adorable baby boy buffalo plaid outfit for him to wear. The vest is nice and cozy, and we were able to tuck a drool bib (also in the same matching print) underneath it since he was still in the stage of drooling all the time.
They also have these adorable burp clothes which come in handy, especially if you are out doing family photos in your outfits! They also make a similar baby set for a girl here and it is so adorable.
Matching Buffalo Plaid Pajamas
Last year I decided that I wanted to start a tradition so the entire family wore matching Christmas pajamas. In October, I was able to find our family matching Christmas pajamas, and scooped the deal up on Black Friday. My son was growing fast but I was certain that he would fit in the 9month pajamas that I bought him.
Jokes on me, because a few weeks laster when I tried them on, I could barely fit his little legs in. With it being only a few weeks away from Christmas, I could no longer find a pair of 12 month pajamas that matched the rest of the family, so I had to get creative.
Luckily, since buffalo plaid is such a universal pattern, I was able to mix and match our pajamas together so we all matched and no one knew they weren’t a “matching pajama set”

Buffalo Plaid Items
These adorable coffee cups are wayyyyyy more than I would spend on disposable cups, but I am using a few of them for a Christmas gifts when we play this fun White Elephant Game, so I see that as a win/win. If you want to be extra this holiday season, make sure to grab some for yourself.
Since buffalo flannel is popping up everywhere, I also wanted to share some of my other favorite buffalo plaid finds.
